Other Non-Personal Information

We collect information regarding the pages visited and which links were "clicked". Like most web sites, we collect such information by using small bits of information, known as "cookies".

What are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are stored on a user’s web browser. Cookies are entirely ‘passive’ and do not contain software programmes, viruses, or spyware.  They create a link from one’s web browser to a specific site. The link serves a purpose only if one returns to that site. If not, cookies expire. Cookies identify a user within a site’s database, but handle no information beyond that which the user provides (our cookies do not store financial data, cannot obtain data from your hard drive or from anywhere in your computer). The idea behind cookies is to deliver a pleasant online experience. They are useful. Cookies allow us to track how many people visited our site, from what geographic locations, and the pages they saw enabling us to asses the areas that need more emphasis, improvement or deletion.

An example of a cookie is on Amazon.com. When a registered user comes in, a personalized message is shown:

"Hello, Joan Smith, we have new book recommendations for you."
The cookie recognizes the user and recommends books based on her personal profile. Amazon, like the overwhelming majority of retail websites, uses cookies.

All browsers allow you to refuse cookies. Please consult your browser’s tools for instructions on how to deactivate cookies.
